Makoto & Sky's Memory Piece, translated by Nomi.

Country of magic science, Daten...
The strange rain that is able to crystalize living creatures continues to fall, wetting the ground without respite.
Sky: Even at a time like this, the city goes on as usual, huh?
Having heard Sky’s words, Makoto too looks at the buildings around him while holding an umbrella.
Despite Daten also being affected by the rain, the city lights continue to shine without even a sign of decline.
Sky: Despite this kind of freak weather, the people who live here don’t change at all. Am I the only one who thinks that’s weird?
Makoto: ...
Instead of a reply, Makoto looks up at Sky with a melancholic look on his face.
Makoto: Looking away from things they dislike. Pretending they don’t see it, pretending they don’t care, pretending it has nothing to do with them... Isn’t that what humans are like?
Sky: But the city is definitely changing. At this rate, the flowers on the side of the road...
At Sky’s words, Makoto smiles softly and snorts.
Makoto: Sky, do you care about the flowers? With that body and face?
Sky: This right now has nothing to do with my body or face!
Makoto continues to walk, not paying mind to Sky who rattles on, then suddenly, he stops in his track.
At Makoto’s feet is a flower that has no choice but to be exposed to the rain.
Makoto: ...Rather than thinking about the past, are you thinking that it’s best for us to think about what we can do now?
Sky: That’s...
With the country under the presidential system now, the two of them don’t have the strength to move the country like they did back when it was a monarchy.
Makoto shakes his head at Sky, whose mouth is hanging open.
Makoto: The world is progressing fast. There is nothing we can do.
Sky: But! But... I’m not trying to say we have to find what we can do right now, I just don’t think it’s right to stay still without taking a single step forward
Makoto: ...
Ignoring the irritated Sky, Makoto looks up quietly. The bright skyscrapers are piercing right into the cloudy sky--
Makoto: If the president gets turned into crystal because he’s exposed to this rain, I’d be satisfied with just that.
Sky: Hey, Makoto...!
After a short silence, Makoto lets out a small sigh.
Makoto: But... It’s probably falling on his face while he thinks it has nothing to do with me. Right now, somewhere in this world, he’s hanging on for dear life.
Sky: ...Yeah. That’d be the case for him.
With the sun hidden, a rain so cold it could freeze the heart continues to fall, and what is in their heart is a warm smile that has nothing to do with their place in this world.
Makoto: ...Haah.
As he sighs, Makoto tilts his umbrella over to the side of the street. The umbrella seems like it’s protecting the flower, and Sky’s eyes widen in surprise.
Makoto: This is all we can do right now. And then... We’ll go home and think about it. Aah, looks like I’d have to buy a new umbrella. Hey mongrel, go buy one now.
Sky: ...Yes!
There seems to be no end to this rain. Even so... The expression on the two former princes of Daten is that of defiant smiles.
